R&D has developed all new ECU programs to allow higher performance levels for recreational enthusiasts and racers who are interested in more engine horsepower through reprogramming the Factory Kawasaki OEM ECU. R&D’s professionally tuned ECU programs offer raised RPM limit settings, advanced ignition timing, and re-calibrated fuel maps all custom tailored to give the Kawasaki SX-R a “wake-up call” with snappier throttle response, much quicker acceleration, stronger mid range pull, and also increases top end speed performance. The Ignition timing in each R&D reprogram is developed to safely maximize horsepower performance with specific fuel octane ratings, and type of riding or racing conditions. There are several recreational and racing performance levels to choose from that work great with the stock SX-R engine package. R&D ECU Programs offered are recreational performance tuned with safe AFR values proven in offshore competition for several years. R&D Exhaust Power Collector

The R&D Power Collector was developed to directly replace the low performance O.E.M. 12F Kawasaki 4 into 2 into 1 Exhaust header collector with a modern “Racing Design” 4 into 1 Merge Collector. The R&D 4-1 Collector has a much larger area change and volume in the collector over the stock restrictive design. The headers primary tube lengths are changed to allow the header to work harder to better scavenge (evacuate) the cylinders exhaust pressures and gases. The R&D Power Collector design allows Higher Compression Ratio’s and Camshaft Kits to work to their True and Full Potential by getting rid of restrictions (allowing the engine to breathe), and having a Power Tuned design that will work hard to scavenge the cylinder as well as have a stronger and better tuned exhaust pressure wave timing. The R&D Collector has been Dyno Tested and Proven to allow noticeably Higher Peak Horse Power numbers to be achieved and most importantly, significantly increasing and broadened the torque curve with greater RPM carry over, or over run. R&D Kawasaki Big Cam Idle Tuner Kit

The R&D “Big Cam” Engine Idle Tuner kit is a simple bolt on parts kit that works to remove the O.E.M. AIC (Air Idle Control) Stepper Motor from the throttle body, and replace it with a fully adjustable, all billet needle valve assembly. The R&D Kit allows precision “Idle” air volume adjustments to be made and securely locked down when “Higher Lift”, “Larger Duration” Camshaft kits are used/installed, along with tighter LSA (Lobe Separation Angle) packages. As Camshaft Lifts/Durations, and aggressive LSA adjustments are made, Engine Vacuum drops or lowers, and engine idle becomes more difficult or almost impossible to stabilize or control, especially with the OEM “Vacuum Referenced” AIC Motor. The OEM AIC is calibrated to concentrate to a much higher Vacuum, therefore aggressive RPM Hunting and Engine Stalling occurs when big cams are installed. R&D RC1 Recreational/Racing Cam Mod Kit

R&D’s RC1 Recreational/Racing Camshaft Modification kit offers a great boost in overall horsepower for the recreational rider/racer who wants as much low end and mid range power that can be “Bolted In” without valve spring changes or valve guide machining. R&D RC2 Racing Cam Kit

The R&D RC2 Racing Camshaft kit offers a boost in overall horsepower for the racer who wants as much lift and duration that can be safely “Bolted In” without valve guide or spring base machining. The R&D RC2 Cam lobe profile has increased lift and duration, and can be used with stock LSA, or R&D RC1 LSA Packages. The secret to the R&D cam lobe is in the precision grind finish on the cams base circle and duration at .050”. R&D maintains strict specifications in this area of the cam lobe which is the key to having strong vacuum, a great idle tune, and clean acceleration performance. Overall lobe Lift and Durations are increased to allow as much lift as possible and still run O.E.M. “uncut” valve guides, as well as use the OEM spring package. R&D has improved the lobe profile with “state of the art” technologies that will reduce valve lifter friction and improve valve lifter wear. SX-R High Performance “Super Single” Valve Spring/Ti Retainer Kit

R&D has developed an economical solution for upgrading the upper valve train that will work great in the 8500-9000 RPM range. The kit includes our “Super Single” chrome silicone valve spring, precision machined premium grade top spring retainers, and custom designed bottom spring locator. The R&D “Super Single” Valve Spring Kit is a recreational and offshore upgrade favorite which offers great valve control and adds improved strength and reliability. R&D has documented that the seat tension or pressure on the OEM stock springs is a low 32 pounds, and coil bind on the stock springs occurs .050” after full lift on the stock cams. As an industry rule or standard, as RPM or Boost levels are increased to the engine, the valve spring seat pressure should be increased 1-2 pounds per pound of boost. As an industry rule, as RPM'S are increased, the spring pressure at full lift should be increased as well to reduce or eliminate valve float at high rpm frequencies. With the stock springs “short lift travel” shimming is NOT an option. Valve Springs and parts MUST be upgraded.

Also to consider is valve spring travel at full cam lift, and to have enough spring clearance freedom to run high performance camshafts or add additional spring tension pressures without coil bind issues.
R&D “Super Single” springs are a “lightweight design” and manufactured from ultra clean, high tensile materials with multi step surface treatments to improve fatigue strength and reliability. NOTE: R&D also offers additional bottom cup shim kits for proper seat pressures adjustments and valve travel settings!

R&D High Performance Racing Head Gasket (Kawasaki 15F/SXR1500)

R&D High Performance Racing Head Gaskets were developed to replace the O.E.M. head gasket with a higher performing Multi-Layer Steel Stack Design (MLS), utilizing state of the art materials proven to withstand extreme heat generated from high cylinder pressures in high boost performance packages. Each gasket is deep dual embossed (both sides) and Viton Coated to promote a positive seal. Use the R&D Head Gasket with confidence in standard replacement situations or Pro Race Engines. Our race proven design maintains a positive seal with up to 24 pounds of boost. R&D also offers gaskets that will allow custom head volume tuning to either raise or lower the compression level when changing piston ratio is not an easy option. If you have 14-1 and want to reduce the compression ratio back (Lower the Ratio) without having to pull out the Kawasaki engine, simply call R&D, order the proper gasket, and the job is done much easier! Note: The Kawasaki standard gasket has a .023” Gasket Thickness. Using a gasket .012” (thicker .036”) will decrease volume or ratio approximately 1 point. I.E., The R&D 14-1 Piston, and a .036” gasket will be approximately a 13-1 Ratio. R&D/Carrillo High Performance Rods

R&D has teamed up with Carrillo as a development partner. Carrillo is recognized as one of the finest manufactures of connecting rods for high performance engines. Carrillo connecting rods are a precision, high strength, quality product that reflects the optimum balance between lightweight and durability. The Light weight forged design is substantially stronger and lighter than the OEM rod and will deliver the strength needed to perform reliably under high horsepower supercharged and turbo applications. R&D recommends upgrading to performance rods when using the R&D Monster C3-11 & C5-11 Supercharger Wheel or R&D Turbo Kit. Rod kit comes complete with Silicone Bronze wrist pin bushing and high strength fasteners.

SX-R Fuel Pressure Regulator

R&D offers a custom high performance fuel pressure regulator system designed to “bolt on” to the SX-R. The R&D Regulator Kit comes completely assembled with all fuel lines, connectors, and fittings in place and ready to install. The R&D Kit also includes the necessary “Port Plug” to easily block off the stock in tank pressure regulator, and custom “plug on” return line fitting. The R&D regulator bracket will allow the regulator to be installed so fuel pressure tuning access is easily accessible. Base fuel pressure is adjustable from 30 to 75 PSI, and can also be set up as a Rising Rate System (60-75) for supercharger or turbocharger applications. The R&D fuel pressure regulator system is very easy to install, and all hardware can be removed and easily put back to stock at any time. Fuel rail and tank return line fittings are O.E.M. push on “snap lock” fitting connectors which will make the R&D Regulator System easy and hassle free to install.

F12 / F15 Powershot Adjustable Fuel Tuner - Now Available

R&D Performance Products, U.S.A. announces the release of the new R&D Powershot fuel injection tunning module and fuel controller. The R&D Powershot fuel injection tuner will deliver increased horsepower, acceleration, and stronger mid-range performance by delivering a higher performing air to fuel ratio (A.F.R.) to the engine. Many of today’s high performance fuel injected four stroke muscle craft have a lean A.F.R. R&D Performance has tested, documented, and analyzed the O.E.M. fuel maps on every current fuel injected four stroke watercraft, and pre-programmed and coded the new R&D Powershot fuel injection control module to safely alter the O.E.M. fuel map to a higher performing and safer A.F.R. (richer). More horsepower, greater acceleration and stronger mid-range are the result when the proper A.F.R. is achieved and is tuned for optimum performance.

The R&D Powershot is fully adjustable on the fly (with the engine running, observed and tuned while riding), and will accommodate a wide range of adjustability to properly performance tune the A.F.R. for any combination of aftermarket parts. The R&D Powershot will add horsepower, reliability, and adjustability to any electronic fuel injected two or four stroke watercraft engine.
