R&D announces our new line up of Kawasaki SX-R ECU reprogramming services. R&D has developed all new ECU programs to allow higher performance levels for recreational enthusiasts and racers who are interested in more engine horsepower through reprogramming the Factory Kawasaki OEM ECU. R&D’s professionally tuned ECU programs offer raised RPM limit settings, advanced ignition timing, and re-calibrated fuel maps all custom tailored to give the Kawasaki SX-R a “wake-up call” with snappier throttle response, much quicker acceleration, stronger mid range pull, and also increases top end speed performance. SX-R Powershot Adjustable Fuel Tuner

The R&D Powershot fuel injection tuner will deliver increased horsepower, acceleration, and stronger mid-range performance by delivering a higher performing air to fuel ratio (A.F.R.) to the engine. SX-R 1500 Steering Plate

The R&D KAWASKI SX-R Steering Plate was designed to relocate (move) the handlebars forward .750”, as well as allow aftermarket 4 degree handlebars to be added which allows the rider positioning on the craft to move forward 1.5-2.5 inches further forward! The Plate also has two steering cable ball pivot locations to accommodate the allowable options on pin locations, as well as an offshore friendly setting. R&D High Performance Dual Valve Spring Kit

R&D has developed an economical solution for upgrading the Kawasaki valve train by offering a series of upgrade parts that will work great with the O.E.M. retainer and valve seals. R&D has documented that the seat tension or pressure on the stock springs is a low 52-55 pounds, and coil bind on the stock springs occurs .050” after full lift on the stock cams. As an industry rule or standard, as boost levels are increased to the engine, the valve spring seat pressure should be increased 1-2 pounds per pound of boost. Also an industry rule, as RPM'S are increased, the spring pressure at full lift should be increased as well to reduce or eliminate valve float at high rpm frequencies. With the O.E.M. Kawasaki stock springs short lift travel and coil bind issues, shimming is NOT an option. Valve Springs must be upgraded.

Also to consider is valve spring travel at full cam lobe lift, and to have enough spring clearance freedom to run high performance higher lift camshafts or add additional spring tension pressures without coil bind issues.

R&D dual springs are a “lightweight design” and manufactured from ultra clean, high tensile material with multi step surface treatments to improve fatigue strength and reliability. R&D/Carrillo High Performance Rods

R&D has teamed up with Carrillo as a development partner. Carrillo is recognized as one of the finest manufactures of connecting rods for high performance engines. Carrillo connecting rods are a precision, high strength, quality product that reflects the optimum balance between lightweight and durability. SX-R Fuel Pressure Regulator

R&D offers a custom high performance fuel pressure regulator system designed to “bolt on” to the SX-R. The R&D Regulator Kit comes completely assembled with all fuel lines, connectors, and fittings in place and ready to install. The R&D Kit also includes the necessary “Port Plug” to easily block off the stock in tank pressure regulator, and custom “plug on” return line fitting. The R&D regulator bracket will allow the regulator to be installed so fuel pressure tuning access is easily accessible. Base fuel pressure is adjustable from 30 to 75 PSI, and can also be set up as a Rising Rate System (60-75) for supercharger or turbocharger applications. The R&D fuel pressure regulator system is very easy to install, and all hardware can be removed and easily put back to stock at any time. Fuel rail and tank return line fittings are O.E.M. push on “snap lock” fitting connectors which will make the R&D Regulator System easy and hassle free to install.

SX-R Five Port Extra Cooling Block

R&D’s 5 Port Extra Cooling Block is designed with three additional cooling ports over the OEM cooling block. The 5 port cooling block directly replaces the OEM cooling block mounted to the pump. The extra ports can be used in any fashion needed. For performance builds or in offshore endurance where long sustained runs will generate high heat build up, we recommend adding one additional cooling line to the engine, oil cooler, and intercooler. CNC machined from billet aluminum, o-ring sealed, and anodized for corrosion protection. Additional ½” through hull fittings and ½” cooling hose are available and sold separately.

R&D Foam Engine Insert

R&D has developed an inexpensive foam engine insert that installs under the engines oil pan and takes up the tight space between the hull and oil pan. The gap between the engine pan and hull on the SX-R is very tight! Some areas are as tight as .250 (1/4 inch)! Small nuts or 6mm bolts that may get dropped or come loose for any reason can get under the engine and get trapped! Very difficult to find or remove! If left un-noticed, a fracture or small hole could get punched to the pan causing oil leakage, as well as hull damage! “Not Fun”! The R&D Foam Engine Insert will keep small hardware or debris from getting to these areas. The R&D Foam Insert is Chemical and Fuel Resistant, and can be cleaned with any degreaser cleaner and Re-Used just like a serviceable air filter! Help to save your engine today!

Professionally tune your engine with complete confidence. The new gauge utilizes Innovate’s patented 100% digital wideband technology that is faster and more accurate than analog designs. To put this into perspective, at 8000rpm the Digital MTX gauge will see a change in air/fuel ratio 24 revolutions of the crankshaft sooner than all other gauges on the market! Several new features have also been added to the gauge design including an integrated wideband controller for simplified installation. R&D Engine Shims

Engine Shims are essential for precise engine alignment. R&D Engine Shims have a tab that provides easy insertion and removal. Shims are made of stainless steel and have etched numbers to identify thickness. Shims available in thickness of .005", .010", .015", .020", .025", .030", .050".

R&D maintains the superior, high-performing polished finish that comes on every Solas impeller. Performance gains include reduced cavitation, increased acceleration and in most cases a 1-2 mph top speed improvement in rough water conditions. R&D hand checks each blades progressive pitch and blade finish and re-pitches each of the impellor blades to “Race Tested” Performance specifications using proprietary custom impeller pitch tooling and gauges.
