The engineering Department at R&D has developed all new ECU programs to allow higher performance levels to be reached for recreational enthusiasts and racers who are interested in more engine horsepower through reprogramming the Factory Kawasaki OEM ECU. R&D’s ECU programs will allow the enjoyment of a raised RPM limit settings, advanced ignition timing, re-calibrated fuel maps all custom tailored to allow the Kawasaki 300X to have snappier throttle response, much better acceleration, pull harder in mid range area’s, and also add to top end speed performance. The Ignition timing in each R&D reprogram is developed to safely maximize horsepower performance with specific fuel octane ratings, type of riding or racing conditions, and also taking into consideration peak RPM and boost levels the Kawasaki 300X will sustain. There are several recreational and racing performance levels to choose from that work great with the stock 300X Supercharger. R&D ECU Programs offered are recreational performance tuned with safe AFR values proven in offshore competition for several years. R&D can also accommodate custom ECU Programs for high performance racing applications where peak horsepower output will require the use of high volume fuel pumps and larger fuel injectors. High performance programs for the Kawasaki 300X are continuously under development and will be announced through periodic updates on the R&D web site, so stay tuned. Custom program files can also be performed to accommodate just about any combination of performance level or type of racing fuel being used. NOTE: Rev Limiter settings can be raised or lowered upon request. R&D is also developing E85 fuel programs that utilize the R&D 340LPH Fuel Pump, and R&D 725 or 1000cc Injectors.
Existing customers who have purchased an R&D Powershot Fuel Control Unit can send their units in to R&D for free upgraded re-programming to allow custom fuel tuning to work with the new ECU Programs. R&D Powershot Fuel Control Units are not required on entry recreational level (R1, R2, or R3) programs. However, custom fuel tuning with the Powershot Fuel Tuner can be an add-on or additional upgrade that is suggested for higher performance applications with Booster Wheels or Camshaft Kits. Fuel tuning or AFR conditions should always be checked and verified as values will always be slightly different from one engine set up to another.

 


R&D Ultra 310X SPEED-UP MODULE (SCOM)

The R&D Ultra 310X Speed-up Module was developed to override the ECU’s internal top speed limiting functions which are typically reduced 5-10 seconds after achieving a stable top speed reading value. Typically, the Kawasaki 310X can reach short top speeds of 68-69 MPH for about 5-10 seconds before being calculated and reduced back to 65 MPH, while still displaying 67 MPH on the dash! The R&D Module works to ELIMINATE these calculation and timer functions to allow “Full Speed Ahead”. Top Speeds with the R&D Module installed are typically 70 MPH, making that a 4-5 mile “Bolt On Part” on a stock Ultra 310X! The R&D Module also works effectively to display cruise and now wake mode speed values more accurately!

HOW IT WORKS

The R&D Speed Control Module installs and interfaces between the stock speedometer and the O.E.M. ECU and works to cancel out all top speed reduction manipulations from the ECU. Without the R&D Module, the ECU can regulate the throttle plate to lower air flow volumes, and boost levels into the intake manifold plenum, which in result restricts top speed performance. The R&D Speed-UP Module allows full boost levels to be achieved which produce a 4+ MPH speed gain on a box stock Ultra 310X. The R&D Module will allow all aftermarket bolt-on parts to perform to their full potential. The R&D Module interface is completely undetected (stealth) to the ECU which means no dash warnings, codes, or stored information to worry about. The R&D Module plugs into the O.E.M. wire harness super easy in 5-10 minutes. A plug and play speed gain in less than 10 minutes! No tools required to install. NOTE: The O.E.M. Kawasaki dash display is only internally capable of displaying peak top speeds to 67 MPH, so, rely on GPS devices to check peak top speeds, OR, rely on the RPM/Speed chart information in the installation instructions that will give you RPM to Top Speed references!

Ultra 310 PowerShot Adjustable Fuel Tuner

R&D Performance Products, U.S.A. announces the release of the new R&D Powershot fuel injection tunning module and fuel controller. The R&D Powershot fuel injection tuner will deliver increased horsepower, acceleration, and stronger mid-range performance by delivering a higher performing air to fuel ratio (A.F.R.) to the engine. Many of today’s high performance fuel injected four stroke muscle craft have a lean A.F.R. R&D Performance has tested, documented, and analyzed the O.E.M. fuel maps on every current fuel injected four stroke watercraft, and pre-programmed and coded the new R&D Powershot fuel injection control module to safely alter the O.E.M. fuel map to a higher performing and safer A.F.R. (richer). More horsepower, greater acceleration and stronger mid-range are the result when the proper A.F.R. is achieved and is tuned for optimum performance.

The R&D Powershot is fully adjustable on the fly (with the engine running, observed and tuned while riding), and will accommodate a wide range of adjustability to properly performance tune the A.F.R. for any combination of aftermarket parts. The R&D Racing “High Boost” Supercharger Pulley Wheel’s for the 300X/310X will clearly deliver an impressive boost in torque and overall horsepower. The R&D Pulley’s are designed and manufactured from high quality billet aluminum and precision hard anodized for superior belt wear resistance. The R&D Pulley’s are lighter than the O.E.M. steel pulley, and will delivers up to 4 lbs. of additional boost pressure. Expect up to 20-30 plus Horsepower gains (depending on Pulley choice). Ultra 310X Supercharger Belt Tensioner Wheel - Now Available

R&D has significantly improved the Kawasaki Ultra 310’s serpentine belt tensioning wheel system by redesigning and precision machining a new tensioner wheel with a larger O.D. The new R&D Tensioner Wheel offers a wider adjustment range and helps to reduce belt slippage via more surface area for belt contact. Less belt slippage with less belt tension reduces heat and promotes supercharger bearing life! The R&D Tensioner Wheel also offers a perfect adjustment range when installing an R&D Supercharger Wheel. Better adjustment promotes less belt slippage which will add a boost in power. Ultra 310 Adjustable Boost Control Valve Kit

The R&D Adjustable Boost Control Valve replaces the OEM Plastic boost control valve that often fails to hold consistent factory boost pressure settings with a high performance adjustable valve. A leaking or inconsistent boost control valve will cause a 10-30 horsepower loss and an inconsistent variation in overall performance. The R&D High Performance Adjustable Valve is all aluminum constructed and offers perfect sealing and allows precise adjustment for consistent boost pressure control. The valve comes factory preset for 16 pounds boost and is adjustable up to 22 pounds. The valve mounts directly to the OEM location with a billet aluminum adaptor that offers boss locations that can be used to install a boost gauge. The R&D Adjustable Valve is a must have part upgrade to allow R&D Boost Pulleys to perform to full potential, as well as allow suggested boost settings for R&D Reprogrammed ECU’s. The R&D Valve Kit includes all gaskets, hardware and installation instructions.

Ultra 310 Engine/Intercooler Cooling Kit

The R&D High Performance Cooling Kit will substantially reduce engine temperatures and keep them stable and under control to 160-175 degrees. Stable engine temps allows multiple speed runs to be performed, or run a 15 lap main event race without severe heat fade. Testing has proven the O.E.M. cooling system to be inadequate for higher boost pressure and higher rpm engine packages. The R&D Cooling Kit is the kit designed for use in Recreational, Off Shore, and Closed Course conditions around the World. Kit comes complete with R&D Billet High Flow Cooling Block.

Ultra 310 Crankcase Ventilation Kit

The R&D Crankcase Ventilation Kit adds additional crankcase ventilation to lower crankcase pressure. Lowering the crankcase pressure will work to keep oil from migrating out of the engine in high performance applications.

R&D RC1 Racing Cam Kit

R&D’s RC1 Recreational/Racing Camshaft kit offers a great boost in horsepower for the recreational rider/racer who wants as much lift and duration that can be “Bolted In” without valve spring changes or valve guide machining. The R&D RC1 will install and work well with O.E.M. valve springs and retainers. The RC1 is a great choice for recreational and offshore riding or racing targeting the 7500-8500 RPM range for top end power while also improving low and mid range performance. The secret to the R&D cam lobe is in the precision grind finish on the cams base circle and duration at .050”. R&D maintains strict specifications in this area of the cam lobe which is the key to having strong vacuum, a great idle tune, and clean acceleration performance.
Overall lobe Lift and Durations are increased to allow as much lift as possible and still run O.E.M. “uncut” valve guides. R&D has improved the lobe profile with “state-of-the-art” technologies that will reduce valve lifter friction and improve valve lifter wear. The R&D “boost friendly” lobe profiles increased lift and duration will produce a noticeable horsepower increases and work well with stock or modified boost levels, and also work well with R&D ECU Reprogramming Services. R&D High Performance Dual Valve Spring Kit

R&D has developed an economical solution for upgrading the Kawasaki valve train by offering a series of upgrade parts that will work great with the O.E.M. retainer and valve seals. R&D has documented that the seat tension or pressure on the stock springs is a low 52-55 pounds, and coil bind on the stock springs occurs .050” after full lift on the stock cams. As an industry rule or standard, as boost levels are increased to the engine, the valve spring seat pressure should be increased 1-2 pounds per pound of boost. Also an industry rule, as RPM'S are increased, the spring pressure at full lift should be increased as well to reduce or eliminate valve float at high rpm frequencies. With the O.E.M. Kawasaki stock springs short lift travel and coil bind issues, shimming is NOT an option. Valve Springs must be upgraded.

Also to consider is valve spring travel at full cam lobe lift, and to have enough spring clearance freedom to run high performance higher lift camshafts or add additional spring tension pressures without coil bind issues.

R&D dual springs are a “lightweight design” and manufactured from ultra clean, high tensile material with multi step surface treatments to improve fatigue strength and reliability. NOTE: R&D Spring Kits will install using the O.E.M. bottom spring locator, and stock retainer. R&D bottom spring spacer is set up to run .400 lift (big) cams. When using lower lift cams, use R&D shim kits to custom shim the spring travel.

Ultra 310 Anti-Cavitation Cone

The R&D Kawasaki Ultra 310X/LX Anti-Cavitation Pump Cone Kit will reduce overall internal pump cavitation within the Kawasaki Ultra 310’s offset reduction/compression nozzle design. The O.E.M. Ultra 310 reduction/compression nozzle is offset 5 degrees, while the O.E.M. pump cone/bearing cap remains straight which causes uneven pressures within the pump and reduction nozzle. The R&D Anti-Cavitation Pump Cone is offset 5 degrees and reshaped to match the O.E.M. reduction nozzle offset promoting even pressures, which will substantially reduce cavitation, increase pump hook up, boost acceleration, and increase top speed performance.

Ultra 310 5 Port Extra Cooling Block

R&D’s 5 Port Extra Cooling Block is designed with three additional cooling ports over the oem cooling block. The 5 port cooling block directly replaces the oem cooling block mounted to the pump. The extra ports can be used in any fashion needed. For performance builds or in offshore endurance where long sustained runs will generate high heat build up, we recommend adding one additional cooling line to the engine, oil cooler, and intercooler. R&D Engine/Intercooler Cooling Kit

The R&D Engine/Intercooler Cooling Kit was developed for high performance recreational and racing use. Extensive engine cooling and inlet air temperature testing using both MoTeC I2 and Innovate digital logging systems has proven the R&D High Performance Cooling Kit to offer double the water volume flow through the engine, oil cooler, and intercooler as well as increase water pressure. The O.E.M. cooling system has a very low water pressure (10 P.S.I. at 7600 rpm’s) and a low water volume flow. The new R&D kit will double the water volume which will lower intake air temperature by 15-20 degrees as well as lower engine block and head temperatures by 40-50 degrees. The additional oil cooler water line will lower engine oil temperatures by 15-20 degrees promoting better lubrication and increased engine cooling. The R&D Cooling Kit arrives 100 percent complete with pre-cut hoses, “T” connectors, 5 port cooling block, through hull bulkhead fittings, hose clamps, water by-pass fittings, and detailed instructions with pictures. R&D recommends the cooling system to be upgraded as a stand alone performance upgrade and a must have kit addition when installing power adders such as R&D Supercharger Wheels, Engine Performance Parts, and Engine Management Kit parts. R&D Cool Air Vent Plate Kit

The R&D Cool Air Vent Plate Kit was developed to allow super heated hot air that builds up in the back of the hull from the water box, exhaust hoses, supercharger, and coolant reservoir to be quickly and easily vented out of the hull. The R&D Kit allows two large 3” holes to be drilled into the plastic seat base mount. The R&D Kit supplies two Vent Plates that pop rivet securely in place that allows hot air to escape out while muffling sound. Ultra 310 Cool Air Intake Kit

The R&D high performance Air Filter Kit will improve acceleration and top speed performance by increasing air flow and reducing air temperatures that enter directly into the Ultra 310’s air plenum box area. The O.E.M. air plenum box on the Ultra 310 is a great design that will flow plenty of air. However, the air that feeds the plenum box is heated by the engine. R&D has created an easy to install “flat filter” that installs directly in place of the large center access inspection cover located directly under the main glove box. The R&D Flat Air Filter insert will allow unrestricted fresh and cool air to enter the air plenum box area which will add power you can feel and a nice high performance tone. The R&D Performance Filter Kit also features two filters, one for each of the surge and blowoff protection valves. The O.E.M. surge valve recycles compressed hot air back into the air box plenum at idle and under deceleration conditions. The R&D surge and blowoff valve filter kit removes the air recycling hoses which will keep the hot air from entering the air plenum box reducing the engines intake air temperatures. The R&D Ultra 310 Air Filter Kit offers great performance tips on how to remove the restrictive air vent hoses which will further reduce the under seat ambient air temperatures. R&D Performance offers a two part High Performance Surge and Blowoff Valve Air Filter Kit which will reduce the engines intake air temperature promoting stronger acceleration and mid range performance as well as better top speed averages. The O.E.M. Surge Protection device recycles wasted off hot air back into the O.E.M. air plenum box whenever there is off and on throttle operations. In aggressive recreational or closed course riding styles, this can promote sluggish acceleration from turn to turn due to the recycled hot air. The R&D Surge Blowoff Filter Kit cycles the hot wasted off air to the back of the hull allowing it to vent out via the rear air vents. The R&D Filter Kit comes complete with 2 port plugs to seal off the blowoff valves return ports on the O.E.M. air plenum box and allowing the recycling hoses to be removed for a great high performance look.

Ultra 310X Fuel Pump Pressure Regulator Blockoff Fitting

R&D offers a Fuel Pump Pressure Regulator Blockoff Fitting Kit which will allow the O.E.M. stock in tank fuel pressure regulator to be removed completely and replaced with a billet part which is necessary when installing an aftermarket externally adjustable fuel pressure regulator. The O.E.M. in tank fuel pressure regulator is fixed to maintain 40-43 pounds of fuel pressure at all times. For high performance applications where horsepower is boosted, it is necessary to install larger flowing fuel injectors and be able to tune the fuel pressure up or down as needed. Most factory race teams are running 65 plus pounds of fuel pressure along with higher flowing fuel injectors and externally adjustable pressure regulators. The R&D Fuel Pressure Blockoff Fitting is the answer to quickly replace and block off the port. The R&D fitting is manufactured to “Deadhead” or block the port solid, however, the fitting is pre-machined and tapped and can be relief drilled to be able to install a Mikuni Super BN Series jet directly into the end of the fitting for a small in tank restrictor jet which may be helpful for fine tuning fuel pressures in high altitude situations where finer tuning of fuel pressure is necessary. R&D Pro Series injectors offer increased fuel delivery over our 525cc injectors.  The new Pro Series injectors are offered in 725cc and 1000cc flow rates.  Each set of injectors have been flow rate and voltage comp tested to insure linear accuracy and are shipped with a precision dead time (voltage compensation) chart that can be added into your aftermarket ECU’s software program under battery compensations. R&D Pro Series injectors offer perfectly clean linear response performance from low idle all the way through the entire power range. Ultra 310X High Flow Fuel Injector Kit

When boosting the horsepower on a Kawasaki four stroke fuel injected engine, whether using high compression pistons, cams, or higher ratio supercharger compressor wheels, it will be necessary to increase the fuel flow delivery. The O.E.M. Kawasaki injectors have been precision flow rate tested to be 90 to 95 percent peaked on stock units at sea level without modifications. R&D offers high performance fuel injectors with a higher atomization spray pattern that are easily capable of delivering fuel flow specifications to accommodate up to 375-400 horsepower!

R&D has flow rate tested the O.E.M. Ultra 310X injectors and verified them to flow 375cc at 40 PSI of fuel pressure, which rates them to flow 38 pounds of fuel per hour. The R&D High Performance Fuel Injectors have been precision flow rate tested to 625cc at 70 PSI of fuel pressure, which rates them to flow 62 pounds of fuel per hour. R&D Rising Rate Fuel Pressure Regulator

R&D offers a custom high performance fuel pressure regulator system designed to “bolt on” to the Ultra 310/310. The R&D Regulator Kit comes completely assembled with all fuel lines, connectors, and fittings in place and ready to install. The R&D Kit also includes the necessary “Port Plug” to easily block off the stock in tank pressure regulator, and custom “plug on” return line fitting. The R&D regulator bracket will allow the regulator to be installed to the side of the intercooler allowing fuel pressure tuning access easily accessible. Base fuel pressure is adjustable from 30 to 75 PSI with high pressure spring (installed), and can also be set up as a Rising Rate System (60-75). The R&D system is very easy to install, and all hardware can be removed and easily put back to stock at any time. Fuel rail and tank return line fittings are O.E.M. push on “snap lock” fitting connectors which will make the R&D Regulator System easy and hassle free to install.

R&D Autometer 0-35 PSI Universal Boost Gauge

R&D offers the Autometer Ultra-Lite Series 2” mechanical boost gauge to give the best reference in verifying and monitoring boost levels precisely on any supercharged or boosted engine. Installing a precision boost gauge is the only way to know exactly what boost level the compressor is producing. Check and verify constant boost conditions and verify Sea-Doo clutch conditions and true boost level gains when installing aftermarket compressors, compressor wheels, and overdrive compressor drive wheels. The Autometer Gauge kit comes complete with all the necessary hardware, and 10 feet of nylon tubing to install on any watercraft. R&D/Innovate Digital Wideband Air/Fuel Ratio Gauge

Professionally tune your engine with complete confidence. The new gauge utilizes Innovate’s patented 100% digital wideband technology that is faster and more accurate than analog designs. To put this into perspective, at 8000rpm the Digital MTX gauge will see a change in air/fuel ratio 24 revolutions of the crankshaft sooner than all other gauges on the market! Several new features have also been added to the gauge design including an integrated wideband controller for simplified installation. The R&D Pump Shoe Seal kit for the Ultra 310 is now available. The three piece Seal Kit stuffs up the unwanted cavities in the pump shoe and the oem intake grate that aid in producing cavitation. This kit allows you to seal up the area between the intake grate and pump shoe, which will reduce cavitation and increase pump efficiency and performance.

Ultra 310 Deep Fuel Pickup

The R&D Deep Fuel Pickup is designed to maximize fuel volume. The stock fuel pickup is located horizontally in the gas tank three inches above the bottom of the tank. This leaves approximately 5 gallons of unusable fuel in the bottom of the tank. The R&D Deep Fuel Pickup relocates the stock fuel pickup to the bottom of the tank in a vertical position. The new positioning allows for 24 percent more riding time per tank of gas. An absolute must for offshore racing.

R&D Ultra 310X Free Flow Exhaust Kit

The R&D Kawasaki 310X Free-Flow Exhaust Kit will wake up your engine’s performance by reducing exhaust back pressures and excessive exhaust heat. The R&D Kit works to eliminate the number two out going water box completely and also replaces the super restrictive exhaust transom outletto full 3” outlet! The R&D Kit is a must install kit to seriously reduces heat and back pressure when running higher engine RPM’s that come along with higher boost pulleys, camshaft kits, or any other power adders for the Kawasaki! The R&D Kit adds a great performance sound and a high performance look!

How It Works

The R&D Kit completely removes the #2 water box that has a reduced in size (small) 2.200 outlet. R&D also removes/replaces the also small 2.200 transom exhaust outlet pipe. R&D utilizes the #1 main water box that has a much larger 2.750 outlet size. R&D also up sizes and stages the exhaust transom exhaust outlet to a final full 3” outlet. R&D’s philosophy here is, If you are trying to reduce back pressure and are going to change out size, then why not upsize the parts to proper “Higher Flowing” dimensions! The R&D Free Flow Kit is the largest kit available for the Kawasaki 310X! The R&D Free Flow Kit is manufactured from oversized CNC precision mandrel bent aluminum tubing and is coupled with High Temperature Silicone Hoses and performance clamps guaranteed to handle the job. Note: For those further wanting to reduce backpressures on R&D stage 2-3Engine kits, R&D offers instructions for increased performance modifications that can be easily done to the Main Waterbox. The Kawasaki Waterbox is super strong, and R&D prefers to modify the stock box.

R&D Ultra 310X Performance Exhaust Plate

The R&D Performance Exhaust Plate replaces the restrictive OEM exhaust honeycomb filter that Kawasaki recommends inspecting or replacing every 25 hours. The R&D Exhaust Plate eliminates excessive exhaust heat and flow restriction produced by the OEM exhaust filter. Improved exhaust flow decreases back pressure, and heat and increase performance. The Exhaust Plate also features small water ports that decrease water flow to the water box, which eliminates hard starting conditions from wet spark plugs. The R&D Exhaust upgrade never needs to be inspected or replaced.  Kit comes complete with gaskets to install.
