R&D is proud to announce our new line up of Sea-Doo RXT-X 260 reprogramming services. The engineering staff at R&D has developed ECU programs to allow new performance levels to be reached for recreational enthusiasts and racers who are interested in more performance through reprogramming the OEM ECU.

The R&D ECU Reprogram Service is one of the first performance upgrades that should be done to the new RXT-X 260. The RXT 260 ECU has an internal top speed limit governor that is GPS controlled to only allow 67-68 mph. The GPS speed limit governor controls the throttle plate to modulate and restrict airflow CFM volume into the intake plenum which restricts horsepower. R&D has tested and verified that the throttle plate modulation controls and limits the boost pressure to 6-7 pounds.

The R&D R3 ECU Reprogram produces some serious horsepower and performance upgrade gains with a worked over ignition timing map, re-calibrated fuel maps, increased rev limiter functions to allow 8250+ rpm, and removed GPS speed control which allows maximum boost pressure to be reached. With the increased rev limiter settings and 1-1 throttle ratio allowed, the boost pressure with the stock supercharger will be up to 10 full pounds. The R3’s altered ignition timing and fuel tables safely maximizes horsepower performance output with 91 octane pump gas, allowing the Sea-Doo 260 engine to accelerate much quicker out of the hole and pull harder through the mid range with up to 8 mph speed gain. Generally, there is a 9-10 horsepower gain per pound of boost added, this coupled with reworked ignition and fuel tables, a 30-35 horsepower gain can be expected with the R3 ECU Program. R&D offers the popular R3 ECU Programs in several Rev Limit setup ranges. Please view the chart offered below for target rev limit segments offered for specific riding conditions or type of racing.

R&D R3 is a vital and necessary key to unlocking and adding performance to the new Sea-Doo 260 engine platform. Whether you are a recreational enthusiasts or an all out racers who is interested in more performance, the R3 ECU is an absolute “Must Doo” Upgrade. . Fuel tuning or AFR conditions should always be checked and verified as values will always be slightly different from one engine set up to another. Higher performing programs are continuously under development and will be announced through updates on the R&D web site, so stay tuned. Custom program files can also be performed to accommodate just about any combination of performance level or type of fuel being used. R&D strongly suggests that AFR tuning be periodically verified using Innovate Products LM1 or LC1 Logging Kit also available from R&D. R&D Powershot Adjustable Fuel Tuner

R&D Performance Products, U.S.A. announces the release of the new R&D Powershot fuel injection tunning module and fuel controller. The R&D Powershot fuel injection tuner will deliver increased horsepower, acceleration, and stronger mid-range performance by delivering a higher performing air to fuel ratio (A.F.R.) to the engine. The R&D RXT 260X Billet Adjustable Pump Cone Kit is a creative new bolt on part that adds 1 full inch of additional length over the OEM cone, and also allows an additional .400” of adjustable tuning range. The extended length allows custom rpm tuning, reduced cavitation and adds additional pump thrust. Precision tuning the pump cones length with the kit included cone spacers will add to top speed while keeping the engine rpm’s stable and out of the rev limiter. R&D Supercharger Surge Protector Kit

The R&D Surge Protector Kit will significantly improve supercharger clutch and compressor wheel performance and reliability by eliminating compressor surge. Compressor surge is defined as the negative charge of pressure that causes turbulence in the supercharger that occurs during aggressive of off-throttle operations. When the throttle valve is abruptly closed at high rpms, the engine decelerates quickly down from 8,000 rpms, however the supercharger is compressing air (creating boost) as the supercharger has to decelerate from 42,000 rpms. This turbulence is the primary cause of undue stress on the supercharger clutch system and its components. The R&D surge protection kit utilizes an automotive vacuum assisted pressure blow off valve that automatically releases the unwanted intake pressure between the closed throttle valve and the supercharger. As soon as the throttle valve is opened, the blow off valve immediately closes and the compressor can supply its full boost potentials to the engine.

BALANCING INFORMATION
R&D Monster Compressor Wheels for 255 H.P. 4 Tec engines have been precision mass center balanced in the preliminary casting/machining operations process, and precision two plane balanced after the final machining processes. The balance tolerances on the R&D Monster Wheels are held to a much stricter and tighter tolerance over O.E.M. or aftermarket wheels. Your R&D compressor wheel may have small balancing grooves machined in the blade channels of the wheel in some areas. This procedure is part of the mass center balancing process. The small grooves do not in any way impede or hinder the compressor wheels ability to efficiently pump or compress air. The R&D precision two plane balanced compressor wheels will perform perfectly and smoothly at 180,000-200,000 rpm’s as the wheels have been blueprinted and balanced to stringent turbocharger specifications, even though the wheel will only spin at 46-48,000 rpm’s in the Rotax engine at 8,000 crankshaft rpm’s. R&D has gone the extra mile in the balancing process of the Monster Wheels as higher balancing standards will add significantly to the service life and performance of Rotax’s vulnerable and temperamental clutch system. Precision balancing will significantly increase bearing life, promote better clutch performance, extend clutch life through decreased clutch slippage, and increase horsepower performance.

R&D High Performance Titanium Retainers are a must add kit where engine RPM frequencies are sustained over 8350 on Sea-Doo Rotax engines using the stock valve springs such as the Pro Stock Class where stock valve springs must be used. The R&D Retainers will fight against valve float in aggressive water conditions where engine over rev situations elevated. The R&D Titanium Retainers are 500 grams lighter than O.E.M. retainers and considerably stronger. R&D Retainers are designed to properly preload the O.E.M. spring slightly over stock to raise the seat and full lift spring tension which will increase valve control and help to reduce valve float. R&D Engine Thermostat and Intercooler Cooling Kit

The R&D Engine Thermostat and Intercooler Cooling Kit is one stop shopping to solve several big issues with the OEM cooling system. Engine temperatures on a RXP 260 engine with performance upgrades can reach 190-195 degrees with the stock cooling system. The R&D Kit changes out the stock thermostat for a new cooler 160 degree thermostat. The R&D Kit also separates and re-routes the “intercooler out” and “engine out” water lines to allow less restriction and more water to flow through both the engines exhaust system and the intercooler which promotes cooler exhaust temperatures as well as reducing intake air temperatures. The R&D Kit also includes two new 1/2 inch water bypass fittings for the intercooler in and out lines, one to be used with the kit included high pressure relief valve, and one for the new intercooler water out line. The R&D “high pressure” relief valve will protect the intercooler from being broken due to high water pressure spikes. Cooler engine temperatures, cooler intake air temperatures, and cooler exhaust temperatures all add up to a noticeable RPM and top speed gain.

The R&D High Performance Exhaust Manifold Extender with O2 Mount Kit is a creative and unique product that was designed and developed while testing the R&D Superclutch and new R&D high performance compressor wheels. The Sea-Doo supercharger and exhaust systems parts and “J” pipe are extremely difficult to get to and handle when they are extremely hot, and the exhaust systems “J” pipe that must be removed can be tricky on a hot or cold engine. R&D needed to be able to remove and replace the supercharger in five minutes to be able to test products back to back in a timely manner, as well as the same day for accurate testing data. The R&D Exhaust X-Tender Kit allows the exhaust to be extended 2 inches which will move the water muffler back 2 inches creating enough room to be able to change out a supercharger (Hot) in 5 minutes. No more hassling with extremely hot exhaust pipes, water mufflers and V-band clamps! R&D Racing Sleeves install easily and properly using the flanged “top hang” register design. The “top hang” design when installed and seated properly will not drop or slip which will allow 100 percent head gasket contact for a positive head gasket seal. R&D RRFPR Fuel Pressure Regulator

Universal bypass rising rate fuel pressure regulator for EFI fuel systems applications. Base fuel pressure is adjustable from 20 to 60 PSI with high pressure spring (installed). Ideal for EFI bypass applications where more flow and superior pressure control are desired. R&D offers high performance Coast Guard approved fuel hose that can be purchased by the foot (PT#611-27502), as well as the Otekier style clamps (Pt#611-27518).

The universal type bypass style regulator is capable of handling any fuel pump up to 250 GPH. Replace “Deadhead” regulator performance and experience the full flow volume and rock steady fuel pressure that only a dynamic R&D fuel pressure regulator kit can produce. Available for Sea-Doo, Yamaha, and Kawasaki watercraft.

R&D Inline Fuel Pressure Gauge Adaptor

The R&D Fuel Pressure Gauge Adaptor Tool is designed to be a plug in fuel pressure gauge that needs no modifications to install and use. The adaptor installs inline between the O.E.M. fuel rail and the R&D RRFPR via the OEM connectors for easy connect and disconnect. Simply disconnect the O.E.M. locking fuel connector from the fuel rail and plug the gauge tool directly into the connector. Plug the locking connector supplied on the R&D tool onto the fuel rail and lock. Use the tool to verify fuel pressure and fuel pump condition. Use the tool to set and verify base fuel pressure settings on the R&D Rising Rate Fuel Pressure Regulator (RRFPR). When finished, disconnect the tool and reconnect the stock fuel line. The R&D Tool works on all sea-Doo fuel systems. Installation time is only 2 minutes. Liquid filled fuel pressure gauge sold separately.

R&D 725cc/1000cc Pro Series Fuel Injector Kit

R&D Pro Series injector kits offer increased fuel delivery over OEM injector sets. The new Pro Series injectors for the Sea-Doo engine are offered in 725cc and 1000cc flow rates. Each set of injectors have been flow rate and voltage comp tested to insure linear accuracy and are shipped with a precision dead time (voltage compensation) chart that can be added into your aftermarket ECU’s software program under battery compensations. R&D Pro Series injectors offer perfectly clean linear response performance from low idle all the way through the entire power range. R&D has tested and verified the OEM Sea-Doo 2011/2012 260 injectors to be 85-90 percent peaked on stock units at sea level without modifications. R&D Pro Series fuel injectors with a higher atomization spray pattern are easily capable of delivering fuel flow specifications to accommodate up to 500 horsepower!

R&D has flow rate tested the O.E.M. Sea-Doo 260 injectors and verified them to flow 420 cc at 43 PSI of fuel pressure, which rates them to flow 42 pounds of fuel per hour. The R&D Pro Series Fuel Injectors have been custom fitted to install directly into the OEM fuel rail and intake manifold with no modifications to any parts or wire harness. R&D fuel Injectors perform excellent, delivering precise fuel flow at fuel pressure ratings ranging from 40 to 60 PSI, offering true “Plug and Play” performance. Each R&D injector set is packaged complete with all installation hardware, necessary harness interface connectors, voltage compensation chart, and instructions.

Professionally tune your engine with complete confidence. The new gauge utilizes Innovate’s patented 100% digital wideband technology that is faster and more accurate than analog designs. To put this into perspective, at 8000rpm the Digital MTX gauge will see a change in air/fuel ratio 24 revolutions of the crankshaft sooner than all other gauges on the market! Several new features have also been added to the gauge design including an integrated wideband controller for simplified installation.
