Parts/Kit Overview

The R&D 2005 Yamaha GP 1300R Stage 3 Kit was developed to improve overall handling, reduce pump cavitation, and increase top speed performance with basic bolt on engine performance parts! The entire Stage 3 Kit installs quickly and very easily with basic instructions and hand tools. The new 2005 Yamaha GP 1300R’s engine platform is significantly different over previous 2003/2004 models. Yamaha’s new engine platform does not have the electronic Y.P.V.S. (Yamaha Power Valve System), and Yamaha has redesigned the exhaust system to a new lower RPM based design to offset the loss of the power valves! Also new for 2005 is the new larger hub 6 vein pump, which smoothes out acceleration and overall power delivery. The new pump design also has better overall pump efficiency and produces higher peak speeds at lower RPM’s. The result of these changes has given the pros at R&D a real challenge to develop an all new line of performance kit packages that deliver the levels of performance expected and compared to the 2003/2004 GP 1300R’s. The new line of R&D Performance kits for the 2005 GP 1300R vary in product design and application over its predecessor, however the performance in the end is every bit as good or better than the earlier models with better handling performance! The R&D GP 1300R Stage 3 Kit will retain great reliability, and is 91 to 92-Octane pump gasoline safe. The R&D Stage 3 Kit has been race tested and proven to be a winner in offshore competition! Mike Follmer raced an R&D prepared Stage 3 GP 1300 to back to back wins in rounds 7 & 8 in the Jet Jam Nationals!

  • The R&D GP 1300R Ride Plate is extended and re-angled over stock to reduce porpoising while adding top speed. The R&D GP 1300R Ride Plate is the only aftermarket design to dominate in Offshore, National, and World Championships, and to be used and endorsed by Factory Yamaha racing teams for 5 years!

  • The R&D Ride Plate Trim Pads are redesigned and extended over stock to reduce porpoising while adding top speed performance in rough water conditions. Smoother high speed cornering is also significantly enhanced.

  • The R&D Aquavein Intake Grate Kit will substantially reduce impeller/pump cavitation, dramatically increases overall handling, and adds a 3 to 4 mph average top speed in choppy water conditions by keeping the pump loaded and hooked up!

  • The R&D Pump Shoe Sealer Kit was developed to quickly and easily fill the large casting pockets in the O.E.M. Yamaha GP 1300R’s pump shoe inlet. Installing the R&D pump shoe sealer kit and resealing the pump shoe will reduce low and high-speed cavitation, which will increase overall pump efficiency and performance!

  • The R&D GP 1300R Pro Series Sponson Kit incorporates an industry first, 15 position adjustable design, which will allow more precision blade and backing plate adjustments. The best sponson kit available for a GP 1300R.

  • The R&D L/H (Large Hub) Anti-Cavitation Cone was developed to reduce low and high speed pump cavitation, which will increase acceleration and pump efficiency, as well as keep the pump hooked up and out of the rev limiter in choppy water conditions!

  • The R&D GP 1300R D-Plate was designed to replace the O.E.M. Catalizer system with a simple bolt on higher performing part. The R&D Catalizer Removal Plate will reduce the extremely high exhaust gas temperatures associated with a catalizer system. A noticeable increase in overall low-end performance and top speed, and allows you to use your choice of oil injection system oils!

  • The R&D GP 1300R Exhaust Power Sleeve will add a serious boost to low end and mid range horsepower and performance! The R&D Exhaust Power Sleeve installs between the exhaust chamber and the catalizer housing to increase sonic wave energy! The R&D Exhaust Power Sleeve will add the Y.P.V.S. (power valve) feel to the 2005 Yamaha’s non-power valved engine!

  • The R&D H20 Flow Control Kit assembles on the lower portion of the catalizer housing, and diverts water flow from the water resonator at low speed and RPM’s. At high RPM’s the adjustable pressure valve opens at peak RPM’s to a preferred water pressure and volume amount. The R&D water flow control kit helps make fuel injection control settings easier and more precise for tuning, and will deliver cleaner and snappier throttle response, which will produce quicker acceleration, and stronger mid range power.

  • The R&D/Solas 14/20 Dynafly Impeller replaces the O.E.M. 3-blade impeller with a sleeker, better performing high-performance polished design! Improved low-end response and increased top speed performance of 1 mph plus!

  • The R&D 2005 GP 1300R High Performance Pro Series Cylinder Head Kit was developed to raise each cylinders compression ratio to a safe level with more power and increased RPMs. R&D cast aluminum heads run safely and detonation free on 91-92-octane pump gasoline. The R&D Pro Series heads are girdle kit optional. Part # 412-13000

  • The R&D GP 1300R E.F.I. Fuel Control Unit was developed to deliver increased fuel volume to areas in the fuel map where lean conditions exist. The E.F.I. fuel control unit is mandatory on Stage 2 kits. Dyno and water testing have confirmed a significant boost in low-end power on Stage 3 kits.

  • The R&D GP 1300R Power Stack Air Filter Kit is designed to assemble on to the front of the O.E.M. air plenum box. The R&D Power Stack adds bottom and mid range power performance while increasing engine RPM’s.

  • The R&D GP 1300R M-16 Reed Valve Kit will add a significant increase in low-end horsepower between 2000 and 6000 RPM’s, as well as boost the peak horsepower range. The R&D M-16 Reed System incorporates a completely redesigned billet intake manifold, which alleviates the O.E.M. manifold’s crossover design, which can add an increase of 100 peak RPMs. No other reed valve or intake system produces more horsepower gains, or is more reliable. The R&D M-16 Reed Valve System’s technology is backed by 4 National and 5 World Championships in the Pro 1200 Superstock class.

  • R&D GP 1300R Free Flow Exhaust Kit is required with higher horsepower output engine kit packages! The Free Flow Kit reduces water resonator back pressure and heat, which will reduce detonation! The R&D Free Flow Exhaust Kit features a new water volume flow control gasket that will reduce the excessive amount of water flowing into the resonator box. The Free Flow Kit will deliver instant throttle response and help make low and mid-range fuel controller settings much more defined and precise! Adds a great performance sound.

  • The R&D GP 1300R VTS/ Automatic Trim Drop Nozzle System is completely adjustable to suit any type of riding style or conditions. The system offers an adjustable automatic nozzle drop for smooth cornering, and allows the O.E.M. VTS (quick shift) to be used to adjust nozzle positions in the O.E.M. 5 degree increments while straight line riding! This is an industry first and a must have part for a GP 1300R!

NOTE: To properly install the R&D Ride Plate, or use the Solas 14/20 Dynafly Impeller, it will be necessary to install the R&D 87 mm 1300R Series Venturi Nozzle. Part # 162-13587. If the R&D 87 mm Venturi Nozzle is not used with the new Solas 14/20 Dynafly the result will be a much lower RPM and peak speed than posted. A box stock ‘05 GP 1300R with a Solas 14/20 Dynafly will have an RPM reading of approximately 6850.

NOTE: Higher performing engines, and/or heavily carboned exhaust systems put out more exhaust heat, which may cause the O.E.M. Cat overheat warning sensor to activate prematurely. To deactivate the Cat overheat sensor, install the R&D Cat sensor chip. Part # 802-13001

NOTE: The 2005 GP 1300R engine platform does not have a Y.P.V.S. Power Valves system unlike the 2003 and 2004 Yamaha GP 1300’s. To achieve low end acceleration and mid range power performance noticed on 2003-2004 GP 1300R’s, R&D suggests the addition of the R&D Fuel Injection Fuel Controller!

NOTE: The O.E.M. cylinder head produces 120-125 P.S.I. of static cranking compression. The new R&D High Performance Pro Series Head Kit will raise the static cranking compression to a 91-Octane pump gasoline safe 145-150 P.S.I.

NOTE: R&D offers a high performance cooling kit for the GP 1300R, which will add an additional 1/2 inch water line. The R&D cooling kit comes complete with a billet aluminum cooling strainer block, precut water line, brass fittings, through hull fitting, weld mount fitting, and clamps. The R&D high performance cooling kit is a great addition to any level of performance package, and will help keep the GPR engine temperatures down to safe levels producing better overall performance and adding reliability!
