Parts/Kit Overview

The R&D Yamaha GP 1200R Stage 2 Kit was developed to have noticeably increased horsepower and top speed over the Stage 1 Kit. The increased compression ratio over Stage 1 will require additional rejetting to the O.E.M. carburetors, and the R&D Free Flow Exhaust will be necessary to reduce water resonator back pressure. Increased throttle response, acceleration, top speed, and overall handling are significantly noticed! The entire Stage 2 Kit installs quickly and easily with basic hand tools, retains great reliability, and is 92-Octane pump gasoline safe. NOTE: Carburetor rejetting is required on Stage 2 Kits. Information at the end of kit overview.

  • The R&D GP 1200R Ride Plate is extended and re-angled over stock to reduce porpoising while adding top speed. The R&D GP 1200R Ride Plate is the only aftermarket design to dominate in Offshore, National, and World Championships, and to be used and endorsed by Factory Yamaha racing teams for 3 years!

  • The R&D Ride Plate Trim Pads are redesigned and extended over stock to reduce porpoising while adding top speed performance. Smoother high speed cornering is also significantly enhanced.

  • The R&D Aquavein Intake Grate Kit will substantially reduce cavitation, increase overall handling dramatically and add a 3 to 4 mph average top speed in choppy water conditions!

  • The R&D Pump Shoe Sealer Kit was developed to quickly and easily fill the large casting pockets left in the Yamaha GP 1200Rs Pump Shoe Inlet. Installing the R&D Pump Shoe Sealer Kit and resealing the pump shoe will reduce low and high speed cavitation, which will increase overall handling!

  • The R&D Anti-Cavitation Cone was developed to reduce low speed pump cavitation which will increase acceleration and pump efficiency.

  • The R&D GP 1200R D-Plate was designed to replace the O.E.M. Catalizer system with a simple bolt on part. The R&D Catalizer Removal Plate increases overall performance, allows you to use your choice of oils (many types of PWC oil will harm the O.E.M. catalizer) and increase top speed!

  • The R&D/Solas 13/19 Impeller replaces the O.E.M. impeller with a sleeker, better performing 3-blade design! Improved low-end response and increased top speed performance of 1 mph plus!

  • The R&D GP 1200R 39cc Cast Aluminum Pro Series Head Kit was developed to easily and inexpensively raise compression ratios to a recreationally safe level. Increased low-end power, and increased RPMs. R&D Pro Series Heads are girdle kit optional. Part #412-12000.

  • R&D GP 1200R Free Flow Exhaust is a required kit with higher horsepower output engine kits! Reduces water resonator back pressure and heat! Adds a great performance sound.

  • The R&D Engine Control Unit was developed to allow 4 adjustable rev limiter settings, and 4 dyno developed and proven timing maps. Substantially increased low-end power along with improved top-end performance. Increased rev limiter setting eliminates engine bog in rough water conditions.

  • The GP 1200R Billet Aluminum Intake-Manifold and Reed Stuffer Kit was developed to alleviate the O.E.M. crossover design, and O.E.M. crossover cover plate creating a shorter intake track length. The new R&D Intake design along with the R&D Reed Stuffer Kit will add significantly more low-end response and acceleration!

  • The R&D Power Plenum Air Filter Kit will add to low-end response and acceleration, and allows for easier access to high-speed fuel turn jets, otherwise blocked by the O.E.M. air box. The R&D Power Plenum is necessary for easier carburetor tuning!

  • The R&D GP 1200R Pro Series Sponson Kit incorporates an industry first light weight cast aluminum back plate, and an industry standard CNC machined, 3 position adjustable sponson blade. 3 recreationally safe settings to increase cornering stability at low and high speeds.

  • The R&D GP 1200R VTS/Automatic Drop Nozzle System is completely adjustable to suit any type of riding style or conditions. The system offers an adjustable automatic nozzle drop for smooth cornering, and allows the O.E.M. VTS (quick shift) to be used to adjust nozzle positions in the O.E.M. 5 degree increments while straight line riding! This is an industry first and a must have part for a GP 1200R!

  • The R&D/Solas 14/20 Concord Impeller Option will produce the fastest top speeds over any other impeller. NOTE: Softer low-end response and acceleration will be noticed compared to the Solas 13/19 Concord. Many recreational riders prefer the 13/19 over the 14/20, however try them both!

NOTE: It is necessary in the Stage 2 Kit to rejet the O.E.M. GP 1200R carburetors. R&D offers a rejetting kit complete with needle valves, pilot and main jets, Part # 372-12000. R&D also offers extended high-speed T turn jets to replace the O.E.M. tamper capped turn jets. Part # 372-12001

NOTE: Higher performing engines, and/or heavily carboned exhaust systems put out more heat, which may cause the O.E.M. Cat overheat warning sensor to activate prematurely. To deactivate the overheat sensor, install the R&D Cat Sensor Chip. Part # 802-12001

NOTE: The O.E.M. Power Valves are manufactured from a cast aluminum material and are notorious for shearing or breaking after 40-50 hours, creating costly engine damage! R&D manufactures a redesigned 6061-T6 Billet aluminum Power Valve, and Power Valve Lifter Arm Kit that adds low-end power, and assurance against breakage! Part # 332-12002
